“Key Notes of Health and a Century of Life”, by Dr. Chas. Winfield Scott, published by C.W. Scott, Jr., & Co., 1895. Long subtitle begins: “With simple, practical and inexpensive methods of treating diseases of the heart, stomach and kidneys and other chronic and nervous affections”. The book includes a wide range of popular advice about various topics in medicine, including curing of the "whiskey and tobacco habits". The author claims to have “made a life-long study of the various forms of disease that attach both men and women”, after retiring from the practice of medicine after being injured in the Civil War Battle of Cold Harbor, Virginia in 1864. The book is not in great condition, but it is quite rare, and it has a striking red and gold frontispiece and endpiece.
